Enjoying your 1-2% Cash Back Card? Here's How I Get 10%...

Hey! I’ve been using Cash App to send money and spend using the Cash Card. Try it using my code and we’ll each get $5. PMLBSBT

https://cash.app/app/PMLBSBT.

I thought I was smart using my credit cards to earn cashback and travel points. Why not take advantage of the bank's generosity and use those account credits, free flights, and other travel perks? Turns out, I was falling right into their trap. Thinking of the rewards inspired me to spend over my budget, and soon I found myself with a balance and monthly minimum payments. Even when I did pay the cards off, was 1.5% on my Quicksilver really worth all this hassle?

When I got out of debt, I decided to use only my debit card for spending and destroyed my credit cards. While liberating, I began to feel like I was not getting my best value without those rewards. On the bright side, I was spending less, not wanting to deduct too many individual purchases from my ledger.

It was the Joe Rogan Podcast that first referred me to Cash App. I listened to the promo a few times before I finally got it. It's a debit card, not a credit card; you can use it as a bank account, even sending your direct deposit money; you can send and receive money like Venmo; and it's the only card that comes with BOOSTS! Boost save you money at popular retailers. More on that in a bit.

I was skeptical at first but finally joined. It's funny because I didn't use it in time to get the sign-up bonus. That's how unsure I was. But now I use it all the time and save 10% nearly every time. In fact, before I spend money, I check my Cash App for boosts. If there's no active boost, I'll reluctantly shop or wait for a better deal.

Boosts are subject to change but currently feature 15% off DoorDash, and 10% off Playstation/Xbox, Subway, Jack in the Box, Chick-fil-A, Taco Bell, and any grocery store. See the photo above for my boosts in the last few weeks.

People who use credit cards often cite security concerns as a reason. If someone steals your credit or debit card, you are not liable for the charges; however, when your debit card is used, the money comes right out of your bank account. With a credit card, you usually have 30 days for the bill to come due, and by then the charges are rectified. If someone skims or steals my Cash Card, there is no money on it to take. Any charge will be rejected, and I will get an immediate notification in the app. The Cash Card solves the security concern and keeps you out of debt.

How does it work? You sign up using my link, connect your bank account, look for boosts, and shop. At checkout, add the necessary funds to your card in the app, then swipe. The full amount gets charged, but the boost gets applied back to your account to be used later or transferred back to your bank.

Currently, using my link will net us each $5 to our accounts, so this is another referral win/win. Let me know if you have any questions.

Bearded Guy

Who is this Bearded Guy?

What's with this bearded guy in all these ads on my computer? He's selling everything from car insurance to financial aid for dads.

Does this type of advertising work? I guess the idea is to catch your attention, but this guy is everywhere!

I guess tomorrow he'll be telling me about the new Apple Tablet or how to make money from home in my PJs, so I'll stay tuned. Did I miss the one where he was selling anti-baldness formulas? That would be a winning combination right there. "This guy uses HairGro brand from Ronco. Shouldn't you?"

Revolutionary Beard Products for MEN

Maybe I should let my hair grow like him so I can be famous too. Does he even know how often he comes up?

I guess that's enough of a rant for now. Thanks for listening!

Blog 6 Post 1

I've tried to start five blogs that I can remember. Hope number six sticks.

The first one was a LiveJournal account before I even knew there was such a thing as blog. That was for a UCSB class. Was it Science Fiction? I let that go after the class ended but tried to re-ignite it a couple of years ago when I noticed I was forgetting a bunch of family memories (kids' milestones, etc). My LJ account is still out there somewhere. I'll have to look it up sometime.

Then when I started SendOutCards, I started a blog to document the cards I sent. I enjoyed looking back at this nearly daily tally, but keeping up with it got burdensome. It was enough work to send all the cards, much less write a paragraph or even a sentence about it. My last entry came, as it turns out, right when Yahoo! dropped its 360 blog program so that one's history.

Blogger has been out for a while & probably isn't going anywhere. I started my Travel Tips Blog to add an additional service for VacationTax.com clients. Then I met some influential financial planners & started VTax Shares the Wealth to document my financial planning studies. That one's an ongoing project that I know I'm going to have fun with. Finally, there's VTax Social Media to go along with my new Complete Social Media Management Service. That one started well but got put on hold because a few of the Twitter services I use shut down. I'll have that back up again soon.

So here's my sixth attempt. I hope to inform & entertain. Have fun!

2020 Notes: I still send cards, but do it on my own the old-fashioned way. I loved SendOutCards but couldn't get the business to work. Turns out I am the only one of my friends who enjoys sending cards so much. VacationTax.com did not work out because I did not enjoy filing taxes. The business model would probably work better in the better-connected society we have now, but I am not interested in buying that domain back for what they want. I'm surprised the two blogs I linked are still there. They have some good information. Unfortunately, my social media management service was short-lived due to early changes in Google apps and Twitter services. I still help a few businesses with social media, but I don't manage them full-time like I once did.
