Favorite Football Teams & My Google Drama
Steelers fan for LIFE!
Recently I posted to Facebook that I'm a Steelers fan for life & all, but that I was jumping on the San Diego Chargers bandwagon for the remainder of the season. The Chargers are actually my second favorite team & have been since the arrival of Drew Brees & Tomlinson. I remember the year before hearing about them as the laughingstock of the NFL. Eli Manning refused to play there. At first, I disagreed with their last coaching change, but it seems to be working out pretty well now.
Well, Brees is in New Orleans now, so they got bumped up to my #3. Philadelphia had been my #3, but the Saints' success combined with Philly adding Michael Vick swapped those two. I'd like to place the Giants next, which is funny because most people like Eagles or Giants, not both. I've followed the G men since the Jeff Hostetler Super Bowl. I'm always looking out for Jeffs. There's a reason I call myself the Band Wagner! (Get it? Bandwagon-er)
I always try to root for AFC over NFC, but as I think about the teams I like, the majority are NFC. The list rounds out like this: Seahawks, Jets, Vikings, Bears, Ravens, Falcons, Bucs & Dolphins. I like just about all the others equally except for the Cowboys. They're last on the list. I don't want to wish ill will on anyone because I do believe in a degree of karma, but I do get a little excited when Dallas struggles. It goes back to the 1996 Super Bowl (XXX) combined with the whole "America's Team" persona. I'll leave it at that because I know there are a lot of fans out there!
Google?
Another post mentioned my troubles with Google. I have a Google account without Gmail. Most people don't know that you can log into Google & use features like Calendar, Documents, Adsense, etc. with any email address. I've always used my Yahoo email address, which gets me some funny looks when people ask me for my Google Calendar, and I give them a Yahoo email address. I think everyone should have a Google account because of all the free resources they provide. I fought them for as long as I could, but now I can't get enough YouTube, Calendar, AdSense, Maps, or anything else.
A few weeks ago on a whim, I created a Gmail account using my employer's name to see if I could use it to send company newsletters. From then until yesterday, that email address took over my Google account. I use somewhere around 10 Google products, and all of them fell under my employer's name. When I added Google Wave, that was the last straw. My Wave ID could not be my company name. I had to do something. I tried to delete the Gmail account, but then I lost my Calendar & sites. Now I was really stressing. Have you ever tried to call Google? There's a recorded message telling you that they don't offer live support.
Last night after trial & error - even after creating another Google account entirely, I found a solution. I re-activated my company named Gmail, then closed it again. This time I replaced my email address with the one from Yahoo I had used before & everything was back. I was so excited, I jumped right over to Facebook & posted that I got my Google account back. I wonder what everyone thought of that... So Google is like that song Devil or Angel. The free tools are priceless, but to keep costs low, they've eliminated the "customer service" aspect. When it's good, it's really good, but when things get mixed up you're on your own. If their help menu doesn't work, you can always call me. I've been through it all.
PeopleString
I just created an account at PeopleString. I'm not sure how I'm going to use it yet, but I wanted to get in early. It's a social network like Facebook, but it adds a marketing arm that pays you to get junk mail. If you want to give it a shot & add me as a friend, go ahead & click the link below. 2020 Note: There is no People String
